Fuse Architects is proud to announce the win in the design competition for Holdmark Property Group’s Melrose Park South – East Precinct. Situated along the Parramatta River and less than 30 minutes from the Parramatta CBD, the project responds directly to Western Sydney’s distinct climate and vibrant multicultural character. With temperatures often 5–10°C higher than coastal areas, our proposal prioritises passive cooling, natural ventilation, and shaded communal spaces to improve comfort and long-term sustainability.

This project is about connection—to landscape, water, and people. Inspired by the diverse communities of Western Sydney, we’ve designed welcoming courtyards, sky gardens, and communal spaces that encourage interaction and a sense of belonging. Positioned along the river, the design integrates nature throughout, supporting biodiversity and encouraging active, healthy lifestyles.

Central to the scheme is a network of public open spaces, linking approximately 2,400 new homes with two riverside parks, 1,000sqm of commercial and retail use, and around 500sqm of additional commercial space located adjacent to the proposed light rail stop. These spaces serve both local residents and the broader community, forming a vibrant and accessible new precinct.

We extend our thanks to Holdmark Property Group, the Government Architect NSW, the Department for Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, the City of Parramatta Council, and Place Studio for their contributions to the competition process. Our appreciation also goes to The Planning Studio for their expert management of the Melrose Park South design competitions.

We’re excited to see this vision for Melrose Park come to life—one that reflects a shared commitment to community, sustainability, and the evolving urban character of Western Sydney.

Further details will be provided as the project progresses. Stay tuned for updates.
